Kory Buck ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Mibrary mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. By using Mibrary, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
A. Personal Data
When you register for Mibrary, we collect:
- Account Information: Email address, Display Name, and User Handle.
- Authentication Data: If you use Apple Sign-In, we receive your name and email address as permitted by your Apple ID settings.
- User Content: Books you add to your library/wishlist, reading progress, shelves, notes, and ratings.
B. Media and Camera Data
- Camera Access: We request camera access to scan book barcodes (ISBN) and capture book covers for identification.
- Photo Library: We request access to your photo library to allow you to upload profile avatars or custom book covers.
- Image Processing: Images of book covers captured via the camera are transmitted to third-party services (Google Cloud Vision API) solely for the purpose of extracting text to identify the book. These images are processed transiently for identification and are not used to train external AI models.
C. Social Data
- Interactions: We store data regarding users you follow, followers, likes on posts, and block lists.
D. Device Information
- Push Notifications: We collect a device token to send you notifications about social interactions (likes, follows) if you grant permission.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Maintain your digital library and wishlist.
- Provide AI-generated book synopses via OpenAI APIs.
- Facilitate social features (feed, sharing hauls, library comparison).
- Send push notifications regarding account activity.
- Enforce our Terms of Service (e.g., handling user reports and blocks).
4. Disclosure of Your Information
We may share information with the following third parties solely for the purpose of providing App functionality:
- Firebase (Google): For authentication, database hosting, and image storage.
- OpenAI: To generate book synopses. (Only book metadata is sent; no personal user data is shared with OpenAI).
- Google Cloud Vision: To identify books from cover images.
- Open Library & NYT APIs: To fetch public book metadata.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
5. User Rights and Data Deletion
- Account Deletion: You may delete your account at any time within the App via the "Me" tab > Settings > Delete Account. This action permanently removes your profile, library, and social data from our servers immediately.
- Blocking/Reporting: You have the right to block other users or report objectionable content directly within the App.
6. Children's Privacy
Mibrary is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date of this policy.
